From back alleys to prayer rooms, from impossible choices to fragile faith, The Chaplain: Shorts weaves together stories of pain, hope, and transformation. These films are not just prequels — they are windows into the soul of a community searching for light in the darkest corners of life.

THE CHAPLAIN

The Chaplain is a grounded, emotional crime drama where hope and faith rise even in the darkest places. Set against the gritty backdrop of a small British city, the series blends tense investigations, personal redemption, and unseen spiritual battles. With a focus on quiet bravery, human connection, and healing after loss, The Chaplain delivers a story of second chances — where every episode brings a spark of hope. It’s where faith meets reality, and light refuses to be overcome by darkness.

HALF A HEART

Half a Heart is a gripping mid length film about trauma, truth, and redemption. The story follows Darius Banks, a wounded ex-soldier grappling with guilt and physical scars from his time in combat. When he crosses paths with Samina, a grieving mother who lost her son in a tragic incident linked to Darius’s past, their unexpected connection forces them both to confront their pain.

Robbie Howells is a writer, producer, and founder of TrueLume Films, a company dedicated to creating bold and inspiring stories for the screen. With a background in pastoral leadership and experience in television, Robbie brings authenticity, emotional depth, and a strong sense of purpose to every project. Through TrueLume Films, Robbie is committed to producing content that resonates with both faith-based and mainstream audiences.

DARRELL IRWIN

Executive Director & Writer

Darrell is a founder, entrepreneur, and author, and a resident expert in branding and purposeful storytelling. With an award-winning career as an art director at the start of his journey, he has since evolved into a visionary businessman, thought leader, and director of three thriving companies. Now, as part of TrueLume Films, Darrell is bringing his passion for storytelling and his entrepreneurial insight into the world of film and media. With a heart for projects that illuminate truth and inspire hope, he is helping to shape bold, cinematic experiences that leave a lasting impact.

NYLA WEBBE

Writer & Director

Nyla is a Welsh writer and director with a background in theatre and a passion for storytelling. She specialises in using drama, music, and interactive performance as powerful tools for self-expression, emotional regulation, and empowerment. From directing short-films and music videos to live- on stage performances, Nyla is deeply committed to creating inclusive, thought-provoking work that fosters dialogue, creativity, and personal growth. Now, as a director of TrueLume Films, her focus is to bring spiritually resonant visuals with rich narrative to the screen, using a clear, creative vision rooted in truth and purpose.

ROBYN HOWELLS

Writer & Director of Photography

Robyn Howells is a bold and versatile creative working across film, theatre, and media. As a writer, she brings fresh, emotionally rich stories to life with authenticity and imagination. Her experience as an actor includes a range of theatrical roles, as well as featuring in a short-film. Behind the camera, Robyn excels as a Director of Photography and video editor—shaping compelling visual narratives with technical skill and creative vision. Her ability to move seamlessly between performance, storytelling, and production makes her a unique and dynamic force as a writer and director ogfphotography of the TrueLume Films team.

ZANDER CALLUM

Writer & Producer

Zander is a BA (Hons) Film graduate with broad, hands-on experience across the filmmaking process. He has worked on five short films in various roles, including writer, director, production assistant, and editor. Currently working as a Producer with TrueLume Films, Zander continues to expand his expertise while contributing meaningfully to new projects. Although confident in his abilities, he remains highly teachable—keen to listen, observe, and adapt to the unique working styles of those around him. Now as a writer and producer of Truelume Films, Zander is deeply committed to continuous growth and delivering meaningful, high-quality work in every area of film production.
